Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
OK- So I replaced the Oil with 5w-30 Synthetic. Didn't change to 10w-30.
I also replaced the filter with w WixXP as others recommended in one of the other threads.
So far, two days- no oil light. Like I said it was coming on quite a bit with the new Oil Pressure Sensor installed.
I am going to get my throttle body and MAF cleaned tomorrow
I will keep the thread posted.
Man, I wish I switched to the synthetic 50K mi ago.

Smart move with the 5w30! As far as the wix filter, I've never seen them recommended? However, shops I worked in many years ago, used them for the advertised low priced oil changes. Keep in mind low price does not mean cheap quality, however I don't use them on my vehicles. The most important thing, is to keep an eye on, the color of your engine oil, and forget about what the "recommended maintenance schedule" shows, and just take good care of your rig, so it will last many more years. Btw, the WixXp appears to be a decent filter:
Thanks Hummerz...I plan on driving this Hummer a long time. 118K on it now...being in CA the body and undercarriage are in great shape. I've owned it since it was new. Never been beat on. Appreciate your advice....I just bought a brand new MustangGT, so this Hummer is pivotal to the mustang just being a weekend toy :-)
Hopefully this is my final post on the subject for a while concerning the Oil light coming on.
Yesterday, I had my Throttle Body cleaned. It was gunked up pretty well with a layer of carbon looking crap.
After the cleaning my engine was running noticeably better in a big way. Megga smooth- seemed like the engine was so much smoother the tranny was shifting smoother too.
Much much smoother at low rpms, eg. sitting at a light in drive with foot on the brake. I'd also say a slight uptick in the rpms at low idle- if I had to put a number on it, something like 600 to 650rpm now.
I'm considering this oil light issue is fixed with everything I did above.
