All, I'm new to this board and was wondering if anyone has ever experienced their red oil lamp coming on intermittently? I changed the oil and filter (I used the Rotella oil that someone suggested) and that helped for about a week. Now it's coming on again. It's a 2006 with 109,000 miles. Had the transmission replaced at about 65,000 miles. Doesn't come on while driving. When I drive about 10 miles, then stop, the light comes on. Then goes off when I start driving again.

Sorry Todd, I have no clue what could be wrong. Just thought I'd mention that my oil lamp light has never come on once, but hopefully someone can help you out. GL

 

Check the oil level, if it is low, you stop fast and inertia takes some of the sump oil to the front of the motor. 6 quarts, right?

Shall we assume you put in the proper grade?

 

when you stop , rpm is lowest,600. pressure is lowest. hit gas while stopped to 1000-2000 rpm. if light is out you have pressure problem if oil level is ok.
with a real gage you could see it drop huh.
my jeep gage drops to 35-40 in gear at idle, goes to 40 -55 running on the road.

a real gage would be tubing fed from the sending unit but i cannot find a fitting that fits the opening.

 

Get that stuff out of there!!!... Rotella is for Diesel engines..
