A couple comments from some recent experiences I had. First, my dipstick is pretty badly oil-stained in the place where it should be showing oil. That fooled me, I thought it was saying it had plenty of oil, but nope. Make sure it's not only dark, but wet.

Second, when you say "no oil leaks" do you mean you don't see it dripping on the ground? Or you've crawled up under there with the belly pans off and verified everything is dry? I had a kinked PCV hose, causing oil to leak (in pretty large quantities) out of the rear main seal, but it would really only do that when the car was running, so I saw very little oil on the ground. But it was definitely low.

Low oil pressure can also cause problems with the VVT system and throw some codes relating to camshaft position sensors, etc.

Engine is running fine, oil level is fine. Oil/filter changed about 2K miles ago.
118Kmi

Brought it to a reputable mechanic who has done work on the vehicle before. He said he can change it but that its probably not the problem. Said he had the same vehicle come in with the same problem. They changed the Oil Pressure sensor and the Oil pump- didn't fix the problem. So I said wtf was the problem? he said didn't know- he said some problem with these engines not holding oil pressure up in the engine.
I said to change it just the same. I gotta start somewhere lol

I see other people with the problem, but no resolution both recent and years ago. Anyone get thru this problem?
I'll update with my results after I get it back

Thanks- Albert
What engine oil have you been using?

Penziol 5w-30 (non-synthetic, conventional). Embarrassed to say, from Jiffy lube

My idle is around 600rpm. If it kick it up slightly to 800rpms the light goes off

I'd love to hear its because Penzoil is low grade oil

Nope, conventional is a low grade oil! Change the oil and ONLY use full synthetic (dexos approved).

Btw, you may need an engine flush after using conventional oil.

I will switch from Conventional oil to Synthetic. Does anyone recommend moving from 5w-30 to 10w-30 for thicker blend and higher oil pressure?
