Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
If you disconnect the fog lights, remove the front tow hooks, the entire front bumper can easily be removed in less than 15 minutes. There are how to step by steps on line, just google it. After the tow hooks, you just remove two of the four bolts from #12 on ea. side. Pull the entire front bumper assembly off and lay it face down on the ground.
Thanks to all for your reply's. I have the bumper off, however, since my 30" light bar is about 31 3/8" outside to outside the only way I can see to mount it is to remove #8 and use those holes for the two hidden brackets that came with the light.
Brackets - left side shown, everything bought at Ace Hardware straight off the shelf.
Basically uses the existing bumper bolt to attach a mending plate which the bracket that comes with the light connects to with a nut and bolt. On the upper connection, I used 3 mending plates to push the light up and forward into the grill space so it sits flush. Lockwashers and Loctite a must, my light bar has been on a few months, not had to tighten it - rock solid.
how long is mending you used to mount bracket to existng bumper bolt on bottom

sorry correction on the bottom of light bracket where you mounted it to bumper bolt how long is that mending plate you used and also how long are the 3 mending plates you used on both side to get it flushed and even
Anyone tried it? I found a 28" wide x 2.75" high light bar which would fit almost perfectly recessed into the space currently occupied by the vented plastic grill beneath the word 'HUMMER'. I figure the radiator / cooling would probably be okay as the upper rad vents / holes are entirely unobstructed.
Thoughts?
I saw your post of mounting the lights with pictures.. but I'm not which part of the H3 you used to actually place and bolt on the extensions. Is it the top metal part of the bumper? Because everything on the sides is plastic.
