My optima from 2012 was removed in 2014.
I was asked by a friend to come to sears auto to assist on business. Most of the assistance was training the techs, and observing business day to day( I was very well compensated for my time). 1 downfall that I reported, and immediately corrected, with the assistance from corporate, was the amount of battery warranties. The DieHard batteries were flying off the shelf, yet out of every 10 batteries replaced, 2-3 were replaced under warranty. Sears auto centers have the state of the art equipment to test, batteries, charging/starting system, and equipment "tanks" to run up to 1hr test/charge/retest. One day while teaching a tech how to replace a battery and run the tank, I told him to pull my optima(2yr old battery) and test. I received a report that my battery was as 70% capacity. I immediately replaced the optima, and Sears also replaced the DIEHARD manufacturer(previous Johnson Controls, same as Optima). East Penn has been the manufacturer of the DIEHARD battery since.

Just checked, Diehard, not all East Penn. Now made in china, via advance purchase, by Exide.

Advance Auto Parts to buy DieHard brand from Sears for $200 million in cash deal

every battery has issues eventually. maybe i was lucky when i purchased mine. it still holds 13.1v on a full charge. and i do remove the battery and condition it with my charger. my red top lasted 10 years and still cranked my old jag before it finally died of sitting in the car with no use or maintenance. the jag is now rendered to lawn art duty lol

Full charge voltage doesn't measure: CA, RC, and Ah. You can buy equipment, or for free you can take your battery to a local parts store, to get analyzed. Bottom line, the battery is the "heart" of automobiles, and cause many issues when failing, extreme heat summer temps(NOT winter temps), take a toll on the battery. I still don't recommend any Johnson Controls batteries.
