Default battery dies overnight

Hummer h2 2003 model

Battery keeps on dying over night

I charged the battery up and took the negative cable off and hooked a volt meter to the ground wire and the negative side of battery while positive cable is on the battery ... I get battery voltage from ground wire , I disconnected every fuse and relay under the hood and on drivers side panel and still has battery voltage

I also disconnected the ignition system still battery voltage any one have this same problem? or had

Why would you read battery voltage on the ground side and ground of a battery?

UPDATE !!!

ok before all this happen I was playing with the ONstar because I just bought it and was checking to see if it was active and what not . So after playing with it , the next day bam my truck battery was dead . So after doing all types of test the only thing I could think of was the last thing I messed with in the truck . Glove box light wasn't staying on , nor gauge cluster . So I disconnect the ONSTAR as everywhere I read said a vehicle that is not using ON STAR should disconnect it . SO I did and over night I had about .11 volts drain which before it was 12.42 and now its like 12.31. SO that is normal and my problem is fixed thank you for those that tried to help!

just went through that for about 3 weeks with mine - turned out the battery had a bad core so they replaced it (under warranty)...irritating as heck.

had the same prob with my 07 h3... i had an aftermarket cd player in it and that was the problem... as soon as i put the factory cd player back in it the problem stopped, not sure if you have an aftermarket cd player, but if you do that could be the problem.

repeat,,,you will always have batt volts if you use any sensitive voltmeter. you must measure current with an amp meter. normal current is appx .11 amp. thats 1/10 of an amp or 110 milliamps.
if you dont understand this concept you need to get help from someone who does
