It's been more than a week since the replacement was installed on my H3 and I'm happy to say that the drive has been great so far!

Got the fix yesterday, went offroad today for about 2 1/2 hours in 100 degree heat. Offroad is where the rattle was worst before the fix. Now, no ratttle! The fix seems to work [/align]

It was probably replaced with the old lower steering shaft. You should double check with your dealer.

I am glad I found this post. I use my H3 for personal use only and I am usually towing my MX bikes. In turn, sitting on So Cal highways in 100 degree heat fighting traffic with a major rattle in the column. I brought the issue to my Dealer last week and they didn't have a clue, now, i have the necessary back up.

[>:] Do not allow the Dealership to play games with you. It's a fact that the drive shaft issue, etc. is a nationwide problem already known to GM. In a nice way be firm and show your proof. Total labor time is less than two hours, In fact, when I was scheduled with an appointment, I waited at the dealership. A friend of mine, was provided with a loaner when he scheduled his H3 to be repaired with long enough notice. If they continue to play Sponge Bob with you, have them call this number, Demondtrond Hummer in Houston, Tx. They have already replaced the problem part numerous times. Service number 281-872-7200. Ask them to simply ask for the Service Dept. for Hummer. I hope that your service rep. speaks English.......GOOD LUCK ! and please keep us posted...............................

I would call back the Dealership just to be sure you are on their list, as a matter of fact and not by assumption. Follow up once a week, otherwise you may be passed-on in place of those who're persistant, and who may have contacted the Dealeship even after you did. Otherwise, you may find yourself on a long waiting line based on demand.
