Here's the keys to your Hummer, don't forget to add 1qt engine oil every 2k miles and when the warranty is over, we can repair, at an additional cost to you.
Funny, back when the wife just had to drive a Pacifica which I snagged out of an Auction with 11K miles on it, it never leaked, but went through a QT every 2K miles, Chrysler said the same thing = normal. ???

Maybe they changed the ring size or gap or sum-thin?

The LH8 was introduced in 2008 as the V-8 option for the Hummer H3. It was the most basic engine of its family, it did not use any special technology. Also known as the Vortec 5300, the LH8 was available in the H3 and GM mid-size pickups through 2009.

The LH8 is a variant of the 5.3 L Gen IV small block V-8 modified to fit in the engine bay of the GMT 345 SUV and GMT 355 trucks. It produces 300 hp (224 kW) at 5200 rpm and 320 lb⋅ft (434 N⋅m) at 4000 rpm. It has a displacement of 5,327 cc (5.3 L; 325.1 cu in) and a compression ratio of 9.9:1.

LH8 applications:
  • 2008–2009 Hummer H3 Alpha
  • 2009 Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon
The Generation IV 5.3L engines share all the improvements and refinements found in other Generation IV engines. 8 versions of the Gen IV 5.3L engine were produced: 3 iron blocks (LY5, LMG, and LMF) and 5 aluminum blocks (LH6, LH8, LH9, LC9, and LS4). All versions featured active fuel management except for the LH8, LH9, and LMF.

IMHO
I'd use a full 32oz marvel mystery oil and quart of trans fluid to flush the engine. Run BerryMan's through the intake and gas. Drain, refill and drive. Test after that.

Or a can of BG EPR?
Remember that when the piston slides downward inside the engine, healthy piston rings skim motor oil from the cylinder walls. Then this oil harmlessly runs back into the crank-case. But piston rings may stick due to age or neglected oil changes. To grossly simplify, sticking rings don't skim oil as effectively as healthy rings do, leaving excessive oil in the upper cylinder area. Then the engine burns off this accumulation of excessive oil, increasing oil consumption.
