what is the rust reformer product called that you used? can you link the products? I am planning to attempt this exact same restoration on my wifes escalade

Alright I started to button things up. I still need to do the rear axle, pull the wheels and spot chk behind. And I need to put the trim back on, I also want to paint the front and rear bumpers... just to freshen them up. I have ran into a deli a though. I forgot the fabricator that fixed my panels pulled out some sponge like material in the wheel well. He says it’s ok as is but I feel like I need to fill it in. What do you guys think about me using that expanding foam to fill this area (same on both sides) and then shape it so it will not allow things to get caught in the hole. It’s hard to tell by the pic but if you remove the rear wheel well liners and look towards the rear doors you have this pocket and it’s topped off with a sponge like material that totally holds water. This is why I had rust in the quarters.

Or should I keep as is and put the wheel well liner in and move on. I may be over thinking this. I mean it’s how they designed it. So it may be ok. The wheel liner covers it up.

Thoughts?

the E-brake cable clips I pulled from a 2005 escalade. the rust reformer I used I got from a friend. I do not know where to get it.

Do NOT fill any body cavity with run of the mill expanding foam like great stuff unless you want it to rust out very quickly. The factory foams are very specialized closed cell formulations that are designed specifically not to trap any sort of moisture and have very specific densities and are a type that are designed to cure without moisture (basic foams actually need moisture to cure which also helps cause more rust).

Going to try to bleed the brakes today. I took a look at the calipers and while they look fine, the bleeders are rusted badly. 99% of the time when I see them that way they crumble when I try to back them out. So I may be replacing the calipers today. We will see. If I do that it will suck because I only have enough cash left to paint my bumpers and I wanted to get new shocks. If I replace the calipers I’ll be putting off the shocks and possibly bumpers till another date.

also after thinking about it (see my pic above) I am going to put a little polyurethane in those cavities in the wheel well (just enough to cap it off. And then forget about them. May do that tomorrow.
