New Magnaflow catback going on tomorrow after work! Now I just have to figure out where each o2 sensor is in relation to the cats so I can figure out which ones I can eliminate without throwing a CEL, and which ones to replace with a high flow.

If anyone can chime in on this I would love you long time. From what I remember seeing over the weekend we have four cats, I remember seeing on on the driver side, one on the passenger side. The another main cat downstream from those two. Where is the final one I couldn't find? Near the manifolds?

Not sure on the Alpha but the I5 has (2) O2 sensors. One of them is in the exhaust manifold. That's the one that needs to stay.

I'll plug up my buddies scantool tomorrow and see how many O2 sensors it reads.

Wow, that's a great price for the exhaust. I'm having a supercharger installed on our '08 Alpha next spring and was looking at that exhaust kit. Better buy your buddy a few cold ones for that deal!

Are you replacing just the cat back exhaust or are you replacing or removing the cats also? If you are replacing just the cat back exhaust, you don't have to do anything with the o2 sensors (it will not cause it to throw a code and turn on the CEL). If its an Alpha (or CE) there should be a total of 6 cats, two per exhaust manifold and one in each side of the Y Pipe.

I'm just installing a catback, but I was considering removing any cats I can without causing CEL's to trigger to improve performance and sound.

Exhaust time!

Old hunk of crap hanging.

Mid drop just before the old muffler hit the floor.

Ain't no use in being gentle with the old exhaust.

Oh yeah baby.

Old hunk of garbage, check out the big flat section with the heat shield on it, terrible.

New muffler going on.

Checking fitment and clearances.

Money shot!

Boom.

Sound of the new exhaust isn't exactly what I was looking for, but it is close. I'm not trying to make a Hillbilly Hummer I just want to hear the V8 under the hood. It's whisper quiet at idle, and growls once you get on the gas. I'm sure it will break in and sound better over time, even the quick freeway ride home changed the sound.

I had my buddy that helped me take it for a spin so I could hear it and it sounded AND looked great leaving the lot!

Can't wait to bash those shiny tips up on rocks....
