I have rainwater leaking into the front passenger side of the vehicle. It is coming through the "channel that drains into the area behind the hand hold near the windshield. Probably caused by some plugged or restricted drain, but it is not obvious from looking at the top of the vehicle.
I can't tell where the channel at the top of the vehicle just above the doors is supposed to drain.
It is probably one of these three and in this order
1) grommet to be re-sealed with silicone under front corner clearance light
2) rain gutter door seal that goes from the bottom of the A-pillar to the top of the C-pillar is not properly sealed and aligned at the top of the A-pillar
3) if you have a sunroof, your drain tube has become disconnected in the headliner where it attaches to the sunroof drain pan.
black rubber strip that goes from the bottom of the windshield to the top of the back door if you open up both doors at the same time you will know exactly what it is
It's easy to check from a brand new one by ensuring the weather strip seam is about 3.25 inches from the molding join as in the case of this picture:
You might have to remove the weatherstripping, clean all the gunk/mud out of it and the plastic trim moldings, and re-pinch together the rubber track that attaches to the molding. More details can be found here:
Stretch it like crazy starting at the bottom of the A-pillar to get your 3.25" reference market, and tape it up good, close the door on it, and let the hot sun re-form the weatherstripping as is here:
Once reformed, have a look and see if you can still see daylight between the two black plastic molding join. If so, you might need to put a small dab of silicone on the top side to prevent water from dripping through as is the case here:
I looked at several UTUBE videos that show how to seal the grommet under the light on top of the hummer in the "gutter". Most of them said clearly to use BLACK silicone sealant. Why would the color make any difference? nobody will see it. Is the black silicone different from others with different properties?
