Default Cutting fender for access to thermostat?

2007 H3....Ok so I was a total idiot by taking this on. They placed this thing in the worst possible spot. Trying to get new one back in and fender wall is cutting me up pretty good.

Wheel is off, fender well is out, I'm talking about cutting the actual fender panel that extends down towards wheel. Thinking about making a cut and bending up an area, so that I can access it easier. I just can't fit in the space now, tired of bleeding lol.

Thoughts? Would be a small area, nothing major. Always like to ask here, good group of guys.

Universal joint socket and extension to remove/tighten upper bolt. Pita, I know. I've also seen some remove the alternator to access the upper bolt(a lot more work than necessary). When installing the new thermostat, without the hose connected, and make sure housing is right side up. Tighten bolts and reinstall the hose(new gear drive clamps are recommended).
Cutting the fender is not a good idea. GL

Long extension on 1/4 drive with 10mm.

I gutted the thermostat and reinstalled housing. Then I shortened the housing on top radiator hose at head. Get inline thermostat housing and install thermostat up top. Much easier to change out later. I ran a 180 thermostat in summer and 190 in winter.

i had to move my door key lock to a new door. couldnt see how to get at it. cut 3 sides of a hole on inside panel and bent it away. bent it back later. no harm done.

that is different, you did not cut into a panel that supports weight and exposed to the elements. Cutting a fender pinch weld will cause structure failure over time.

Stayed with it and got it done without cutting. As much as it would be easier, I was afraid to do it, chickened out.

I like the idea above shortening the hose and all. Keeping that one in my pocket for next time.

Thx for the info guys!! Always appreciated!!
