Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
I ordered this one but my question is does the entry for the hoses to the cooler go top or can I flip it so it point down? Because when I point it down it’s easier to run the lines to the transmission lines . Also another question does it matter right or left is entry and exit back to the tranmission? Does like left is enter right is return ? Or it doesn’t matter ? Which way? Right now with the stock setup does the passenger side transmission line is entry or return? I just Wana keep it the same order when I install the cooler. And my last question is how you plug the holes on the radiator were the transmission lines used to go?
Down or to the side are the options to avoid air gaps. Definitely not on top. If you point the cooler connections down it does not matter. If you point them to the side, then the Bottom connection is for IN, and the Top is back OUT to the Trans.
A bypass really only if you install a Trans Cooler as a stand alone (no longer use the in Radiator cooler) and you have temps below 32F for extended periods.
Passenger side of the lower Radiator connection is the Radiator Outlet back to the Transmission.
lol I Wana follow ur lead sir
But I changed the transmission fluid and filter roughly 2 years ago with ams signature transmission fluid but I barely drive the hummer I have 122k miles on it . When I check the transmission fluid still very red and clean l. And ur right that’s too hot cus I start noticing my temperature of the engine /coolant start to go up when the transmission fluid temp start start to go up . Which one you recommend for my situation? Now remember I live in Florida it’s so dman hot in summer so the more cooling for the transmission the better . I don’t know the different or what you mean between low or high ? Can you post a link on where to buy it and how much it cost? I was doing a research and I saw this on the other hummer forum. https://hummer4x4offroad.com/forum/t...pictures.7076/
is this a good one? And would it cool enough ? It looks like it’s easy to install and hook up
Low or up high in front of the radiator. I did post a link in blue back there..... #13613 Likely not enough BTUs for a factory Trans Cooler delete, but the one you ordered should do just fine.
Just adding a cooler will help mask symptoms, but if there is a problem, that problem will still need to be addressed. If it were me, I would consider changing the Trans Fluid and Filter again right after you add the cooler and see what happens.

thank you doc I will position the port of the cooler facing down and I will keep it where passenger side is going back and the driver side is entry just like it used to be on the radiator and I will change the filter and the fluid as well. What do you use to plug the radiator plugs where the transmission line used to go to? Or do they just stay open ?

the one I ordered is like 40000GVW
Tru-Cool - Max LPD47391 47391 Low Pressure Drop Transmission Oil Cooler https://a.co/d/98dsVv9
how much drop Did you see before and after installing the transmission cooler ?
Apologies for the delayed reply, drop was quite significant. Before I was running 220-225F engine coolant temp, 230-235F transmission temp. After cooler install 205-208F max engine coolant temp, 165-170F max transmission temp. This was during the summer with ambient temp around 110-115F
As Doc pointed out, installing this cooler could very well just mask symptoms of a problem that will need to be addressed. In my case I never got to the bottom of it, despite replacing almost everything that's cooling related (except radiator) I suspect my radiator was cheap eBay knock off. Sure hope it's not something else that was causing these crazy temps.
The cooler you got is quite large, you won't have much choice in terms of positioning - check out this thread for reference.
To help answer your question about plugging the old ports in the radiator, I just left mine open, but people do plug them with something to prevent them from getting dirty and what not. Doc suggested foam ear plugs

I replaced everything under the sun for cooling system everything including fan relay and even radiator, fresh coolant and all . I just installed my cooler today I put it right infront of the condenser but behind the middle metal part it fit perfectly there. I flushed all the transmission coolant out all 11 quarts. And tomorrow I am dropping the pan to clean it and install a new filter and then gonna fill it up using ams oil signature transmission fluid and test it out and check for leaks . I will post pics and results after I complete it

so you ended up using ear clamps? Where did you get it from?

Ear Clamps was the original plan, but before I got to them the line popped off and dumped fluid everywhere. I end up fixing it in a random parking lot with high pressure clamps I got at a near by auto parts store.
