Still just amazing that you cannot admit that your claim of 5% was wrong.
Not me! I drain ALL old oil before adding new! After I change the oil I get <0.5 after running engine with new oil and monitor the color. My last engine oil change was over a year ago and it's now between 1&3.
By your own comment above any oil change on even on a brand new engine (assembly lube) will be immediately contaminated. The residual oil left during ANY oil change say in the lifter valley, on any of the internal rotating mass, oil passages, etc. would "contaminate" the newly introduced oil.
A quality engine oil change requires patience and I do NOT RECOMMEND> Instant quick 10 minute jiffy lube engine oil change etc.. for a proper engine oil change! I change my engine oil at operating temp level grade and wait around 1hr to stop dripping, until I get the 6qts out with filter change.
