2006 H3 3.5 oil pan removal / low oil pressure at idle
Hello guys , i have an 06 H3 3.5 with 160k miles on it and im currently getting low oil pressure at idle when hot . Already changed the oil pressure sender with an original GM and the problem is still there . I changed the oil last week to 10w40 and it delays the oil warning a bit but comes on when engine is hot anyways. A friend told me to check the oil pickup tube for blockage but I cannot find any information on dropping the pan. If i remove the front diff will the pan drop ? Ive been reading some and some people say you have to lift the engine. Thanks
Welcome to HF.
I highly doubt your oil pickup tube could be blocked, it is like almost 1" ID. Anything is possible I guess.... You could have a bad pickup tube O Ring Washer not sealing properly to the oil pump, or just a oil pump going bad.
You can drain the oil, loosen the oil pan bolts still leaving a thread or two in and the pan will drop about 1/2" which might give you enough room with the Balancer & front cover removed to remove the oil pick up tube bolt to than get the oil pump out and replace the oil pump and pick up tube O Ring. Lot of work getting stuff out of the way. Just dropping the oil pan will not allow the oil pump access if once you get in there that is the problem.
