Default Low oil pressure

Last few days my H3 Alpha low oil pressure alarm sporadically beeps. The alarm turns on for a few seconds then goes away for 5-10minutes. Speed doesnt seem to matter as the alarm will go off briefly at idle, 30mph, 50mph, 74mph, etc...

Oil is not low, have about 4500 miles since last oil change. Oil looks fine not too dark. No noises such as there is no knocking sound.

What's my best bet to begin troubleshooting? Should i pay $70 for an oil change or is the issue likely something else?

Thanks!

check the oil pressure sender. they also tend to leak oil through the harness connector

Thanks bronxteck. I was thinking it was that. Is there an easy way to check the sender? Also, is the oil sending unit and oil pressure sensor the same part?

I am not sure what the idiot light is but the low oil pressure light is briefling coming on sporadically with associated beeping. I am not sure whether the oil pressure is actually dropping. The car is driving fine.

Did you figure this out? My 2010 H3 just started doing this. Coming off and on sporadically.

If there is no extraneous noise from the engine, then the oil pressure is normal. Hydraulic lifters will make noise with low oil pressure
