thank you
The VVT desired angle should be zero when starting up and at idle because there is very little oil pressure being supplied to the VVT solenoid/actuator and phaser. Zero degrees retarded is the “home” position for the Phaser and a locking pin holds everything in place at zero degrees until oil pressure is applied and a “retard” command is provided to the Solenoid. This doesn’t typically happen until at much higher power settings.

When you rebuilt your engine, did you purchase a new exhaust camshaft phaser, or simply reuse the one you already had in your engine before (which I assume was working well before the rebuild).

Additionally, how many times have you changed your oil since rebuilding the engine?

How many miles since the rebuild?

Lastly (yes I’m going there), what type of oil and filter are you running?

oh I see then my vvt is working fine because it shows 0 at idle but when I took it for a spin it’s reading the desired and angle the same number . I reused the same phaser. And it’s been now 1000 miles roughly after a rebuild , I changed the oil 3 times . I am currently running mobile one 5w-30 fully synthetic with mobile one filter. I noticed that rough idle only happen when I hit 1000 on rpm so when the engine first start doesn’t matter when it’s cold or hot at 1000 . Do you think it’s throttle body?
