Your rough idle startup for few seconds=starving for AIR OR FUEL
Check the secondary air injection pump!

Is there a way to see if the vvt is working ? I unplugged it while the engine is running and I even started the engine without it being plugged and the engine ran fine and didn’t throw a code. I checked for exhaust desire and angle and it shows 0. Is that normal ?

thank you

I checked for power and I am getting power and ground is good but when I check the scanner it shows desired and angle for exhaust is 0. So does that mean my pcm is not commanding my vvt? And if so how can I fix that? I replaced the vvt but still no changes.

thank you

The secondary air injection pump only pumps air into the exhaust for emissions purposes, not the intake manifold, and only when the engine is cold as well. Surely this wouldn’t cause a rough idle, especially since the PCM would still be in Open Loop?
