Default Just wondering what this rubber part is between my oil pan and transmission

I was changing the front diff fluid today and noticed this rubber part looked a little squished. Didn’t know what it’s purpose was or if I can just leave it alone.

I don’t know the official name, but it’s simply a dust cover/inspection cover that leads to the flex plate/torque converter area.

You could try to reseat it so it doesn’t look quite as squished and is a little more even, but I wouldn’t think there is a huge problem with the way it looks right now.

The flywheel access plug on a Hummer H3 (used for accessing torque converter bolts) is a long, rectangular plug located at the bottom of the transmission bell housing. Removing this plug allows access to the bolts connecting the torque converter to the flexplate/flywheel.
