After all, it was a 6 minute video on Youtube😁 6 hours later I accomplished my first radiator job! Now this has been a nightmare.
I never felt anything out of order. I was on a dirt road and it locked up.
Now I have been working on this for 3 days. My caliper cap fell out. So brake fluid leaked. I was told to put the cap back in and bleed the brakes. Is there a trick to getting this cap back on?

Default Last question

I just want my Hummer back! Day 5 and still on blocks😭 I have ordered a new caliper.

The parking pin on the other side is broke. I have completely removed it. I live in Kansas and have never used my parking brake. I have been told both ways, one/ if I never use it than just leave it out and 2/ it must be put back in that it will mess up my entire brake system. I am trying to do this right and not jeopardize any future problems, but i am 3o miles from any mechanic or autoparts store and on foot. I'm so close...yet, so far.

caliper

Brake caliper piston. Sorry, I am not a mechanic or claim to be. But, I am not afraid to learn and try.

Just buy a new brake caliper. No sense in trying to rebuild that one.
Under $80 @ AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts.
Make sure to order/buy the correct side.

Thank you for all your help! Replaced the caliper and managed to put it all together. Other than the studs were too short and I had to go get longer ones, it is all put back together. But, oh the message panel is lit up like a Christmas tree. ABS, Stability system failed, my brake light is constantly on and check brake fluid. Which is full.

Did you fix the E-brake on the side that had a seized pin?

So you were driving down the road and the rear end locked up? Are you sure it wasn't the diff that locked up? I have seen that before.
If its back together is it drivable?

Default rear caliper mounting bolts

Where did you find the caliper mounting bolts for the rear? I have found the GM part number (gm11589201) for them but everywhere including the dealer days it’s discontinued. They have the front caliper mounting bolts but not the rear. I broke off the bolt and now I’m stuck.

Please discontinue digging up old threads to tack a question on the end.
