I'm not sure wth happened, but all my lugnuts broke off and I lost my rear tire on a dirt road. I am having problems getting the rotor off. I removed the caliper and brake pads, tried tapping it off, tried screwing bolts into the two areas to release it...it is loose but won't come off. Am I missing something?? Has anyone ever experienced all their lugnuts breaking in half?
The lug nuts probably got loose and then wobbled to death, you should have felt that long before failure. Check the lug nuts on the other wheels.
Spray the Rotor where it makes contact with the hub with a good penetrating oil like Kroil, PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench..... let it soak in and give it a fresh spray every couple hours. Next morning give it a try. If that does not work, heat the rotor with a torch near where it meets the hub and bang on it some more. You gotta get mean, like nasty and show it who's boss.
did you also remove the caliper bracket? if not the rotors will be captured in place.
also if you have aftermarket wheels the wheel hub might need offset rings to secure the center of the rim to your hubs. if the hub floats around the center of your rim then the lugnuts are whats holding the weight of your vehicle not the hub and that can cause lugnuts to snap off

Good call, I forgot that people use aftermarket rimz that are not hub centric on H3s even though it is not a good idea (I would never do it). I've had discussions with peeps on here suggesting that doing so is just an accident waiting to happen and they respond.... I've had them to X# of miles and never had a problem... yada yada.

Rust ridge on the drums and the e-brake shoes are holding the rotor.
Yes I removed the brakes and caliper. I did finally get the rotor off, but dang, these studs are terrible. 3 hours of hitting them with a punch and hammer I only have 2 out!! I was told that my rear parking brake locked up. I have never used my parking brake. My Hummer is currently on blocks as I try to fix this, but when I started it to put it in neutral several messages lit up. Brake Fluid (which the brake fluid is full) Traction Failed, and Service Stab. Luckily I was only going about 25 mph when my wheel locked up. Has anyone ever had this problem?? After I get everything put back together will these messages clear?? 2 down 4 to go!!
Ok, l am not a mechanic in any way, shape or form. I am currently single and have never done any mechanical work, so this has been a challenge. As far as the rim's, yes they are after market. I bought my Hummer in October as is. I had the brakes changed in November and last month I tackled the radiator thinking it would be easy. After all, it was a 6 minute video on Youtube😁 6 hours later I accomplished my first radiator job! Now this has been a nightmare.
I never felt anything out of order. I was on a dirt road and it locked up.
Now I have been working on this for 3 days. My caliper cap fell out. So brake fluid leaked. I was told to put the cap back in and bleed the brakes. Is there a trick to getting this cap back on?
if it was the caliper piston (round cylinder with a rubber ring that pushes behind the brake pad) you should replace the whole caliper as you might damage it trying to re install the piston. it is doable but at that point you would have to rebuild it anyways. so safer to just replace.
as for the aftermarket wheel maybe you can go to someone that sells aftermarket wheels to see if they can help you get "hub centric rings" that will match the wheel hub to the middle hole on the wheel. they are spacing rings that fill the difference up
