Default Drivetrain issues. Need some pointers

Hey all.
I have a grinding noise in the drivetrain somewhere...seems like its coming from the front right side, but its hard to pinpoint.
It seems worse at about 1500-2000 rpm and in 3-4 gear...at about 25+mph. Auto transmission. The front differential bushing was bad so i replaced it. No change. So I put it in high lock and pulled the front drive shaft. It doesn't move. Seems like it wants to..will almost move about an inch, then nothing.
When its in neutral, turning the rear driveshaft by hand will make it move. Front driveshaft mount will spin in nuetral...slightly more resistance in one direction then the other.
Ideas? I thought it was going to be the front differential that was having problems. And maybe it is. But now that I know that it won't move with the front driveshaft removed I'm not certain about anything.
Thanks in advance for any help. I searched the archives but didn't see any posts that discussed a problem with not moving with the front driveshaft removed.

If it won't move in 4HI Lock with the front prop shaft removed it is provably in the Tcase somewhere unless the front is locked up.
Have you tried lifting the front end off the ground with the prop shaft removed and spinning each tire to see if you can hear anything in grinding the differential?

Welcome to HF. When asking a questions, Year, Model, Miles is important.

I haven't. I'll give that a shot. Thank you.

So if it is the tranfer case...is it something that is likely fixable? Or should I be looking for a replacement?

Nearly anything can be fixed, it just may make more sense to replace it depending upon what is wrong.

When I asked about Model, we all know you have an H3. 2007 H3s come in different models..... Base, Adventure, Lux, Lux/Off Road. Base and Lux have the high range T Case, Adventures and Lux/Off Roads have the low (rock crawler) range T Case, and a rear locker with button to the far right of the T Case Control Buttons to use it. They use different TCCMs. Keep that in mind if you go replacement.
