airbag light on scanner can't communicate with module
Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
One more question, should I use dielectric grease to seal the pins to the airbag module? I do have a sunroof so I am assuming it will leak one day. I wonder why GM didn't use any in their connections.
I ALWAYS clean/seal connectors/contacts with dielectric grease!
did you replace the fuse yet?
maybe the module is fine but the power feeding it is bad or shorted. check for power at its pin while you have the module out.
just dont flip the module when it is connected in the car. it has a roll over sensor.

Yes I replaced the fuse when I found it blown. Didn't think much about it though, that is when I was trying to figure out my stereo adapter problems.
Under the center console. My 07 did that, had to replace the air bag control module which back in 2018 or so when I did that was almost $500 for a new one. #9 below. Check ebay, might find a new one for less.
If you are just getting an occasional air bag fault light, you can clear the BCM by placing the vehicle in Neutral, engine running, put one foot on the brake and hold it there, push the Emergency brake on with the other foot and release it, repeat the E brake and release 5 times fairly quickly. If the light stays off, it was a glitch. With your failure to communicate, it will come back on pretty soon.
After taking both modules out cleaning them and their plugs and putting dielectric grease in the plugs, I am happy to report the scanner now reads the error codes and is communicating with the module. Thanks for all you help with this issue.
