Default airbag light on scanner can't communicate with module

I have had an airbag light on for some time now, I have tried two different bi directional scanner to read what is wrong but both say they can't communicate with the module. What should I look for next? Is the module under the passenger seat or the center console? Thank again

Under the center console. My 07 did that, had to replace the air bag control module which back in 2018 or so when I did that was almost $500 for a new one. #9 below. Check ebay, might find a new one for less.

If you are just getting an occasional air bag fault light, you can clear the BCM by placing the vehicle in Neutral, engine running, put one foot on the brake and hold it there, push the Emergency brake on with the other foot and release it, repeat the E brake and release 5 times fairly quickly. If the light stays off, it was a glitch. With your failure to communicate, it will come back on pretty soon.

Thanks, looked on ebay a used one is 100 dollars and found one from a gm dealer online new 75 dollars. Go figure. Would this have anything to do with the SIR fuse that was blown. I can't find what that stands for.

Exactly, fluid intrusion causes a short, blows the fuse, sends module offline. Go to the module, dry it out, and clean/seal the connector/contacts.

The Gm dealer I ordered a new module from canceled the order, I pulled the old module out and it looks good all the pins are shiny and clean. Is there any other way to tell if it is bad?

Also there are two boxes if you will under the console, what is the one closest to the shifter in front of the airbag module?

One more question, should I use dielectric grease to seal the pins to the airbag module? I do have a sunroof so I am assuming it will leak one day. I wonder why GM didn't use any in their connections.
