Thanks for putting this up. it was hard getting the soldering iron to the truck so we used female quick disconnect adapters 14/16 0.250 blue and some electrical tape. Total cost, $5.60 and about 25 minutes of work. It started right up. Thanks again!

Great help here on the forum..thanks to all who take the time to document! Had same issue, no blower fan..Plastic was melted, connection was fried at blower motor. Cleaned up the connection and it 's working again, but for how long? What causes this and how can it be prevented? Is this a band aid that we can expect to replace often?

slow speed makes most heat in resistors and fan =slow-minimum cooling of res.

avoid min speed, run higher or not.
at highest speed, res are not used

My H3 blower stopped working this last winter and I still don't have it fixed.
It all started last winter when I went to turn my car on and then tried to turn the heater on and got nothing. It did not work on any of the settings 1,2,3,or 4. I was going to take it in to get it fixed and I decided to check the fuses, I replaced fuse 82 and it started working again but shortly after a weak or so it went out again. This time I only removed fuse 82 and put it back in and it started working. It seemed like every time it worked again it would cut out when I forgot to turn the fan off before turning the car off. I have thoroughly checked all the fuses and even replaced the resistor. I also double checked to make sure that the red connector to the resistor was not burned out and also confirmed the connections with a multimeter and it all seems fine but the blower still does not work.
I thought I would check here to see if any one has any suggestions that I have not tried before taking it to the dealership and get robbed.

Thanks

I was out of town on business and my daughter took it in for me. I usually request the old parts.

Near the beginning of this thread I saw the fix for the resistor was to remove the red plug and solder the wire directly to the terminals in the resistor, but not replacing the resistor. I have a concern if there is a problem with the resistor there will still be heat buildup and the wire will just burn up in a different place maybe up the wire harness in a weaker place. I installed a new resistor and a new red plug. I was thinking if the resistor went bad I would rather it burn up the red connection than burn up a spot further up the harness.
