Thumbs up

Thanks CDOBIS!!!! Your DIY fix saved me $$$$. Just knowing where to find the resistor was a big help. I am not very good with a soldering iron so went with snipping wires and putting new connectors on them. Was blowing cold air in less than 10 min!!!! A must have in Texas!!!

It happened to me! Went into the gas station the other day and when I started the H3 the fan was set on 4, it blew for 2 seconds then nothing. Pulled the connector and sure enough - the outside connection is all burned up! I just ordered the harness for $26 at gmpartsdirect.com
The question is where does the other end of the harness go? Is it going to be a pita to replace?

You didn't need to get another harness or resistor pack. The existing one still works just needs to be cleaned, the same thing will eventually happen on the new one. Just clean the burnt one and reconnect with wire cap and electric tape it up. Sorry no pics but sift through the thread and there are plenty of ideas how to fix this problem. Good luck.

I am late to the game here, page eleven and all . . . .
Dunringil, Great pictures and nice fix
It seems like this part is a poor design and your repair does the trick
Thanks

I know I don't have to replace the harness but I want to do it just in case the H3 ever catches fire because of this issue I rather have oem parts installed for insurance purpose.
I did already do the cheap fix but it's only temporary till I get the harness delivered.

Thumbs up AC Blower fix

My HVAC Blower quit, found this site and did a search, so reading the posts I checked it out, sure enough it is the connector harness for the resistor. Obviously if you run the blower on high all the time too much current is traveling through the connector and it over heats and burns up.

(this is a definite fire hazard).

THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO POSTED ABOUT THIS FIX, IT IS A SIMPLE EASY TASK THAT CAN BE DONE IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES FOR THOSE WITH A LITTLE MECHANICAL SKILL.

I got the red connector housing separated from the white resistor housing then took a pair of channel locks and busted it apart freeing up the wires and connector pins. I will be going to the dealer and getting the red connector housing GM Part # 12059296 AND I am going to try to use a heavier gauge connector pin for the High Setting connector. (light orange wire on a 2007 H3) The other connector pins are fine so no need to fix those. They will slip right into the new housing

I am also going to buy an extra housing and connector pin to have on hand because this burn-out happened with 31,426 miles and 4 years 2 months into the ownership period. I am sure it will happen again, but I'll try not using the HIGH setting as much...

GM should be recalling this fire hazard, but someone will have to be maimed or worse before GM does anything about it.
Best regards to all, Katphish

Their is a white pin (Plastic) that slides out of the red connector housing.... from the side, use a needle nose to grip it and pull, it should slide right out... then the white and red housing should come apart easily enough,

OK all, I just fixed my wifes AC in her 06 H3 Adventure as well. I just took the burnt connector and used my Dremel tool and cut that one burnt connection off the red harness. I added a female connector to the orange wire then cleaned up the white resistor really good. Connected and wrapped it all and BINGO it works. Thanks to all for the great insight. I did take photos and will post them later.

clearly should be a free fix forever, a bad connector,,,however,

this is a definite fire hazard).

Thank you so much for the information. This post saved us over 300.00, which is what the dealership would have charged us to fix the problem.
