If you hear it moving under the truck it’s most likely partially engaging most likely from a bad encoder motor. It should be the shifting mechanism itself but I highly doubt it. More apt to be a weak or broken encoder.

I say this because it is giving you the fault code. I doubt the buttons malfunctioning would cause this.

The transfer case selected range has been reported as invalid by the transfer case control module (TCCM).

do you think it’s due to improper synchronization inside the transfer case ? That’s my guess. Maybe the motor is too weak to fully engage the collar into the gear ?

Did you check out my other 5k+ posts? Do you also know that you can save a lot$$$$$$ when you get the right information? Instead of people guessing and causing you to throw parts at it!
If you can't handle my question, you need to go to a forum for arts & crafts.

my information is quite good my friend. I’ve owned an H3 for 10 years and there isn’t much that hasn’t F’d up on it that I haven’t fixed. Psssst I’m also the son of a 40 year mechanic and have access to all of his wonderful and quite expensive toys that he keeps very up to date. So my advice wasn’t a “guess” it was informed through not only trial and error but very intensive research on the exact issue he is having. And I still stand by my original assessment. There’s no point in being a dick to someone when they clearly don’t speak English as a first language. Never hurts to be nice to people. Have a good un now. Ya hear.

Your “free” advice is **** dude. Get some decent equipment to do diagnostics with before you give your free advice out.
