I just didn't understand if it was a bcm or a bypass kit or what. But I figured it out after a couple Google searches. Thanks for your help

 

Great you learned something. Keep in mind, you need to verify/match the oem bcm number, then you can buy another bcm and hope for the best? <<<OR>>> GO TO A GM TECH 2 EQUIPPED AUTO REPAIR FOR BCM PROGRAMMING TO MATCH IPC.

Thank you! I have an appointment on Monday at a gm tech 2 licensed shop so I'm sure they will be able to figure out my issue. Thanks for all the help, can't wait to put some miles on this thing.

 

Update: bcm was reprogrammed by gm tech and still the odometer and trip are not gaining any miles? So is it the cluster?

 

Did your "gm tech" use a TECH 2?

 

they are a very well known licensed gm technician but I can not confirm. I can call call them and find out, what difference does it make if you don't mind me asking?

 

They said they updated the whole system to the latest software

 

But.............. you have not confirmed they used a Tech 2?

 

did they set up the programming as a replacement or just an update. you have to tell the tech 2 or programmer in SPI to set it up as a replacement then it asks to confirm the vin number at which point you put in your vin number before it reprograms. if you do not set up that option then it will just update to latest firmware without the vin change to the bcm.
