Default Remote Start Choices

Living in da' UP winter is brutal and I'm not going to face it in my 05 without remote start. The existing threads with recommendations for which unit to get are old and electronics technology moves very quickly so....

What's the best one out there. I don't need miles of range or a security system as I'm in a rural area but I would like to have the system start the engine and turn on heated seats and defroster/heat.

Suggestions?

For what you want any current or older model would work just fine.... For the higher end, I'm about to install an Arctic Start (Compustar) Edge 2X on mine. Their remotes are top notch and the range on it is also incredible.

That being said, after having several over the years one thing that I look for and is very important to me is a good quality remote with a loop through the actual remote casing. Other ones that just have a tiny little loop of plastic or a tiny peg sticking out for the key ring eventually break off.

The edit button for your posts are at the bottom right of the post...

Plenty of reviews online for different brands out there. There is no quick easy install for a Hummer either - its a good bit of work to install.

does anyone know what bypass module one would need to get in order to install the arctic start, and if anything additional besides a bypass is needed for install beyond what comes in the kit?

Awesome! Which one did you go with? Also please take some pics and document the install. I still have not had time to install mine.

What I have is (as mentioned) the Arctic Start Edge 2X, FT-7000AS controller (also a security alarm), and the Blade-AL for the controller (factory security bypass part).

I've also collected a bit of wiring info specifically for installing a remote start. See the attached PDF. Might be helpful.

Subed this thread. I've always been curious myself and did a ton of research years ago on a decent Viper system and all the components needed for remote start and a crazy upgraded alarm system. I never pulled the trigger but kept everything all this time in my amazon wish list. Curious to see the results!

The Arctic Start looks inexpensive. I would like to hear how the install went. My wife has asked for this for Christmas for her '09 H3T.
