it is possible they used the air fitting in the trunk as the fill point and just used that T to the bags directly. simple and clean i guess.

 

From what I see in the pics and OPs original symptoms, id say thats exactly what a PO (or his mechanic) did. Tied the bag lines up to the interior Schrader valve to make fill ups as easy and convenient as filling a tire. Needs to make sure he uses and oiless/non water air stream to refill.

 

Yup unit was removed. Filled the bags will look for leaks if it goes back down. Just happy to not be bouncing around. Appreciate all the responses and help

 

First I've ever heard of that solution to a bad AS unit/system. Someone was thinking outside the box. Enjoy the ride!
