Just bought an 06 H3 and on the way home (freeway @ 70) noticed the hood had opened and was "hanging on" by the safety latch! Pulled over and closed hood. Seemed to "latch" closed so hot back on the road (now dodging rush hour traffic and semis). In less than a 1/4 mile, hood pops up again! Yikes! Long story short, seems the cable is frozen at a point that keeps the main latch from fully securing. Found lots of threads about using screwdriver to open hood for broken cables, but not my situation. So here is a video I found on You Tube U that shows how to replace the cable assembly. Very easy DIY process.
