broken hood latch cable

MOVED as this is NOT an FAQ question and it should not have been posted there. You can Google everything and search here. Broken Hood Release Cable - HELP!
Depends upon where the cable broke? If you just lost the lever inside, grab the cable with vice grips and give it a tug.
Otherwise, look through the grill where the safety release lever is and where the cable is at that end, use a flat head screwdriver and stick it in the visible slot and give it a turn.
Hood release cables and latches require maintenance = LUBE.
