Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

The 08/09 can be retrofitted with any of the newer Duramax's like the LMM, LML and L5P because their ECM's also use the high speed canbus and can be interfaced.

Along with the good comes a little bad, the newer bus makes the new Hummers more complicated and difficult to work on as well. Just about everything in the truck talks to the computers. Not only do you need a Tech II but also an MDI-2 and a laptop running TIS-2000 software to service and program all the systems.

Receiving information from the CanBus is easy. Sending data through CanBus becomes complicated. When it comes to the digital cluster I'm just extracting data and placing it in a clean user interface. I'll work on a version to check and clear codes but for now I'm developing a instrument cluster replacement. I have my app to check and clear codes for now. iPad version will be available soon as well

used iPads are inexpensive. The cheapest I found a 10.5 one on Facebook marketplace is $150. I don't have to focus on sourcing a display nor developing a pcb for a custom one. I can just focus on app development and upload to device with a much faster time to market.

The work you are doing looks fantastic! In addition to working with A&L Imports, which is a pretty good idea... check-in with the team at Predator. They perform Duramax conversions on H2s, and I am sure this would be an easy add-on sale to a conversion given the price point. I think the majority of both firm's volume is in 2008/2009 H2s, but you can confirm.

FYI I think only 2008/9 models implemented CAN Bus (High Speed GMLAN network.) and all Instrument Clusters communicate via the low speed Data Link Class 2 Serial Bus.
