Default What Could This Wire Possibly Be For?

I just bought by H3, you can see in my other thread here. And a couple days ago I noticed this wire dangling:

Size: 201.7 KB

I found it ended up going to my passenger side tail light. I know there has to be a purpose to it, and it has to not be factory done.

If it's purpose is nothing important or nothing I'll ever need, I'll just clip it off. Or if I do need it, I'll just wrap it back around the support behind the bumper like the last person had it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Looks like it might be tied into the rear reverse light for a backup camera. I would disconnect the splice, solder the wires back togethere and yank all that un-needed stuff outta there...

It's definetely NOT factory installed. 'Crimp Connectors' are not used in production.

I have to agree that I think it was just a wire from a shotty job for a back up camera.

Got a multimeter? Check for voltage and measure again when the car is in reverse. If it becomes hot in reverse it was for a back up camera.
