Possibly buying a 2003 H2, need advice please
I have always wanted a H2 but never really thought I would pull the trigger. I have been approached to purchase a beautiful 2003 black H2 that has been dealership owned since new (the owner and then the owners son) are all that have driven it. It is in mint condition with 94,000 miles on it and basically has all options.
I can purchase it for $15,000. My current vehicles are fine but this would allow me to consolidate my 2 suv's into one newer one which certainly would be nice. I typically drive my vehicles into oblivion so this would be treated the same. I realize the 2003 had some problems but at this price what would you do? Assuming no off road usage, near mint condition, this is about $4,000 less then KBB. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for your help.

It's a good price and likely has been very well taken care of. On the other hand, it has 94,000 miles. While motors and transmissions last a lot longer than they used to, the other components still suffer from the same amount of wear, e.g. the windshield getting pitted. $15,000 is a pretty good entry point for an H2. If that was the max my budget would allow, I'd go for it. You can always get your money back out of it if you change your mind.
Make sure you buy the extended warranty. You will sleep better.

I'd go for it, but I'd have it tuned up as soon as you buy it, and get her out on the highway for an hour or so as to try and blow as much carbon out of the system as possible (assuming of course there is carbon buildup, which there may be if it's mainly been driven around town.)
2 months ago I bought my first H2, it's a 2003 Red-Metallic, mint condition, with 81,000 miles on it, and it runs like new. The 6.0L Vortec and 4-speeds in H2's are extremely reliable, so if anything be worried about stupid small things needing to be replaced rather than large expensive ones.

I bought mine in early December of 2009, and me being in the frozen wasteland that is known as Canada, I got it for $17,699. However that was an as-is purchase, then there was about $2800 in safety and certification on order to get it on the road.
The manifold was a tad loose, and both front tires had to be replaced, and just a few other minor things. So all in mine was about $20,500 Canadian dollars, or about $18,500 USD at the time. And when you factor in mine had only 10,000 less miles on it, yours sounds like a steal! But then again remember that we canucks get screwed on car prices most of the time. But I think you've got a very good deal in your grasp, just make sure the safety and certification doesn't add another $5000+ to the price tag.

I think it sounds good. I would jump on it! I was looking for one cheap too. I got mine for $19,250 and its an 05 with 91,000 miles two weeks ago. They had it listed for more but I noticed it was leaking oil from the oil filter told I was in the market to buy one but not one with an oil leak. So they came down 5Gs on the price. That was out the door. Got home and tighten the oil filter a turn and a quarter and it does not leak anymore. Its spotless underneath. I got under the truck at the dealership which is what you should do when buying used. Im sure they had everything that was wrong with it, fixed when they first came out. Good luck.
