Default Stealership or Good Stuff?

Just got a call from the dealership about my leaking radiator, it is covered under the warranty (2008 40k miles) except they are asking if I want to pay $150 bucks for a coolant flush while they replace my radiator?

Is this normal or do I need to find a new dealership to do my work, seems to me it would be a integral and included step to replacing someones radiator.

They also suggested having my fuel system cleaned ($180)

Most service advisors work on commission. So the more they can convince you to have done the more they benefit.

Your coolant is good for 100K, and you don't need any fuel system cleaning if your truck runs without issue.

They are trying to clean and flush your pockets. Tell them to replace the radiator and go F*** themselves on the rest. If they don't like it, there are lots of GM dealers that would be happy to be paid by GM to do your work.

I'd really like them to explaint to you how they are going to change the radiator without draining over half of the coolant anyways.

That's what I thought - they just called and its ready - I declined both services. Hey Doc - I had a 72 Convertible Cutlass I restored back in 95 - My Florida Tag read DOCOLDS - from the old Oldsmobile Commercials

I agree with Doc, tell them youre not interested! I've read several articles lately criticizing dealers for these unnecessary flushes. they are 'suppose' to use the same Dexcool coolant so why would a flush be necessary, esp at 40K miles? they are out of their minds.....
