Default Replacement Battery OEM or not

Looks like the cold weather killed my battery. Has anyone installed other than OEM sized batteries? Autozone wants $112 for a replacement that fits the OEM slot. The salesman at autozone said Optima's they wouldnt fit, im assuming he means the posts won't line up. im going to keep the battery box but i dont mind drilling holes if i need to. i dont want an ACDELCO so i wont be goign to the dealer.

Default 12v is 12v

u can put any batt u like and are satisfied with and can make fit.

i always buy the biggest physical batt if it has the best specs.more lead, more life, for same money.

optima i hear is not worth it from well informed users at advance auto.

dont fall for bs, theres a lot around!
good connectors, not necessarily pretty ones are a smart decision.

lots of posts here on batt, read and think,,,and dittos on drillin,,im always for drillin!Q

Get the highest "CCA", which is cold cranking amps that will fit inside your battery box. Keep the battery box, it is there to keep some of the engine bay heat away from the battery. I believe our group size is 86. If you have an Interstate Battery distribution center in your area give them a call and tell them what you are looking for. I have had great luck with Interstate Batteries!

PS: Mine has 710 CCAs which is much better than the stock/OEM 560 CCAs.

I called around for a while yesterday and i ended up going to sears, $104 for a diehard. I called the local interstate distributor and they wanted $160 for a battery. i could have gotten an optima for the price of an interstate. all the little parts houses autozone, pepboys and discount were aroung $115. oh well, guess im good for another 3 years.

guy at auto zone is an idiot you can fit an optima you just have to take the battery top off which you wouldn't need for an AMG cell anyway they jave a size that fits in the mounts perfectly. if you are interested i will go pop my hood and tell you the size

oh and by the way you don't need the highest cca. its dependant on the size of the starter, and for the i-5 it doesn't take much to start it.

It sure as heck does make a difference! I'm not sure where you live but up here in MI it gets pretty fricken cold and the extra CCAs make a difference when you are starting anything @ 2 degrees.

"its dependent on the size of the starter" that's some funny stuff there also!
