got warning at 385 and i chickened out

unfortunately i did not fill because of crazy prices
so i curious ,,,how much is left appx when warning comes on??
In my experience, when my low fuel light goes on, I know there is probably a good 2.5-3gals left. I know in city driving I will go another 40 miles before I fill up, and the highway 40-50miles before I stop.

Well the fact remains, duratracs aren't the heaviest tires. I mean, you can dispute me all you want.. I'm not the one with 35's and 18mpg. Like I've said going on three times now, contact the people who HAVE 35's and get 18+mpg highway. Starting with surfin coastie. But there are a handful of others with 35" duratracs and corrected speedo's that get 18ish mpg highway.

Default so,,the math!

40 miles before I fill up, and the highway 40-50miles before I stop,

so at 385 +40 i could have "coasted"down my driveway at 425!!!

maybe next trip ill drive the limit only and bump up 1 more mpg!!
ive had highjer mile cars but smaller tanks so if i squeeze 21 i can set a record in my 50 yrs of doing this trip!

itl be colder in nov,but ill try

tom

Yep if the light comes on at 385 you've got a good 40+miles before you run out of gas. I always go 6-7mph over and get 19.2 mpg, I wonder what doing the limit will do?

Default 250-280 miles in a full tank...

Here's one for you all. I'm only getting around 250-280 miles in a full tank of gas. The only things that i have done to my h3 is 315 Dura Tracs and leveled, no roof racks, no brush guard, no winch. i never drive on the highway, if i do we take the 4banger on road trips. i do go off road when i can but not much lately. i have replaced the air filter with a K&N and the plugs with AC-DELCO iridium plugs. It had the common head problem fixed, that was before i bought it. but resintly i changed the plug and found out that 2 of the 5 plugs were iridium and the other to were regular AC-DELCO, kinda odd. so anyway im getting really bad mileage. any sugestions. feel free to email me at gtocraz@yahoo.com or this Thread thanks jay (hummie) oh ya and is anybody going to the grayling michigan snow run this, let me know.

Since we are on the subject, my H3 is getting far worse mpg than when I first bought i the beginning of Nov. After 1 week of driving I filled up, then went and played offroad. Mostly highway driving with a good 3 or 4 hours offroad, mostly in 4-lo. 17mpg. Just filled up yesterday and calculated the last tank, 15mpg for a typical mix of city/highway. I'm chalking it up to winter gas and colder winter weather.

edit: I'm completely stock on 285s.

Not to be too critical here guys . . .
but telling us how many miles you get per tankful does not give the whole picture
For best and most accurate mileage, fill up your tank right to the neck of the filler tube (DO NOT trust the auto shut off)
Then re-zero your mileage (trip odometer) and drive as you would
Then refill up you tank at any time and divide gallons into mileage
This is the only true way to calculate mileage

Default 3.14 is pi

on average the pump will shutoff close enuf for govt work,,,,were not calculating fuel for a round trip to the xxxxxxx moon!

the filler pipe is about 7/8 in so 4 inches is about 3 shot glasses!!!
