I'm calling BS on this one! I've had 3 08 H3 Alphas and not one has even been close to 20mpg highway! Best was 16.2 mpg ALL highway with everything stock.

There were tests done in CA and you could get as much as one and a half gallons more of gas
if you trusted the auto shut off and filled it to the top of the filler
It only takes a little more time to hold the metal nozzle out of the filler tube and fill it to the top. If you drive consistently, this will give anyone the actual mileage picture
I can believe that....

My mileage drops considerably in the winter around town. But a lot has to do with the remote starter, cold weather, my hating of cold weather, and a 1.5 mile drive to work and back. So, mileage really sucks, but especially in the winter. Basically, it is around 12-13 mpg. Summer goes up to around 14.

On a round trip to MI this past Nov/Dec, my average was 16.22379. Includes some local driving in MI.

On a trip to WY in July, my average was 16.225. This includes some mountain roads in WY and ID, as well as a few trips over a nasty trail from ID to WY and back.

I have been known to exceed the speed limit on highways.

We only get about 14 in the '09 with ~ 30% hwy and 70% city. Now with 285's added from 265's, get about 13.2-13.5 but also may be due to cold weather here in Mi. 14 seems to be the avg even with out 2008 we had. Our HWY speed is 70-75 so probably cant reap any decent hwy mileage benefit to offset the city driving.

I bought my 07 H3 two days before Christmas. I loved the idea of the posted 16 city/19 highway mileage. I was replacing a 7 mpg Jeep Grand Wagoneer so anything was going to be a huge improvement.

I track my fill-ups and mileage using an app called aCar on my Droid phone. So far my avg mpg with combined driving is 15.610. My last tank averaged 17.103. That included a 150 mile interstate trip yesterday with the cruise set on 60. Of course, there were two 40 mile mountain crossings in that.

So far my stats for 3 weeks of ownership are:
Fill-ups: 4
Total Miles: 920
Total Gallons: 58.93
Total Cost: $248.75
Avg Cost/Fill-up: $62.19
Avg Cost/Gallon: $3.16 (of course it is much higher now)
Cost/Day: $14.63
Cost/Mile: $0.27

I would love to get a little bit higher mileage but overall I am happy. Beats the crap out of my old Jeep.

I am stock other than 285s. Thinking of researching better air intake, exhaust, and possibly a chip of some sort. I don't want to hijack this thread with that stuff but if anyone wants to point me to some threads with good info I would appreciate it.
