Alright guys, I dont think I can wait until summer to get an H1. Too damn long. Anywhoot, Luxor motor cars is selling an H1 soft top with a 6.5 turbo diesel with 29K for $41 grand. I know there is usually trouble with the number 8 cylinder on these. It is a fourth digit Z VIN code, so I know it may be problematic.Can anyone tell me when the problem usually begins with these engines, mileage-wise? Also, has anyone dealt with Luxor before? What can I expect? This one is within my price range, with shipping and taxes, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've got a 97 with 60K on it with the "bad" engine. No problems. Runs as strong as ever. The price isn't bad if the truck is right. I assume you are going to look at it before you buy? I don't know anything about Luxor.

 

Well, I decided that an impulse buy on something like this may not be a good idea. I think I better wait until I have all the cash in hand, and shop one out properly. I guess I will have to wait for June or July. Oh well. Better to shop around than get stuck with a lemon. However, I did get to check one out up close and personal today. I spent some time wiping the drool from my face and talking with the guys mechanic about it. I was actually quite reassured after talking to him. The mechanic has spent alot of time with this particular H1, but it was only because the owner is very meticulous when it comes to maintaining it. He has never had a major issue with it. That put a smile on my face.

 

Those are the ones to buy. Mine never go wanting for anything mechanical. The brush rash and some of the cosmetic wear items might wait but that is it and those are easy. If and when I ever sold one of mine the lucky SOB that buys it will be getting a truck that needs nothing. You are much better off waiting and buying the right truck.
