P0449 Code Help
#21
That would send another code for evap leak, p0442, p0455 (most common) p0456, etc.. All for evap leaks.. I have never found an evap leak when only retrieving a p0449, from the computer! Scan the computer and it will give you all the codes, if you receive an evap leak code along with the p0449, then you should be looking for a leak, otherwise, if you only receive the p0449, replace the vent valve.

Yes, check voltage at the connector first. This is a forum of mostly diy's, not an automotive repair facility with mastertechs. How many have the proper test equipment laying around in their garage? Because it is a cheap and easy repair that most can do at home, IMO it's well worth it. 99% chance that the cvvs replacement corrects the problem, if not then most would have to take it to a repair facility and pay big bucks for diag and repair. Besides, chances are the cvvs will fail at sometime, so replacement is not a bad thing, even if there is a slight chance that it doesn't correct the problem. Remember, it's only around a 20 buck repair to do it at home (if you get it on ebay as posted above), and $200+ at a repair facility.
actually, the 214-2147 has been revised (214-2324) and even cheaper on ebay (low as 15bucks):

however the revised part requires a jumper harness.. 19257603
