Letter from Dealership Looking for Used H3's
Got a letter in the mail yesterday from the dealership where we purchased 2 of our 3 H3's. Letter states there is high demand for used H3's in good/excellent condition and they are looking to purchase as many as 8 if they can find owners willing to sell theirs. Limited supply = higher value. Nice.....

You sir are the recipient of the oldest auto dealership marketing trick in the book. Your dealer couldn't care less about purchasing an H3 from you or anyone else.
What he is interested in is getting you to come into his showroom where he will gladly sell you a brand spanking new vehicle of your choice while relieving you of your H3 for a price less than what you could sell it for on the street.

I understand the sales gimmicks. In this case, I tend to believe there is a demand for H3's for two reasons:
A) I know the salesperson we purchased our H3's from personally (outside of work) and he has told me several times that they get requests for Hummers quite frequently.
B) The letter specifies model year 2009 as preferred and we don't own a 2009. I'm sure they have records that we have owned two 2006's and now have a 2008 Alpha.

Sales gimmick. They send those letters all the time about how valuable "X" model is and how they will give you tons of $ for it on a trade for a newer vehicle.
If you want to see how much of a joke it really is. Take the letter and go to the dealer. Ask them to appraise your rig with no purchase from them. You will laugh at the offer they present you.

Got the same thing for my wife's Malibu. Letter from the dealer made it sound like they were so desperate for her car they'd give their first born for it. I called, tried to work out a deal to get her into a new one. The salesman said he'd get back to me.....never did.
