Left front wheel hub assembly with sensor?

I was told by a certain mechanic that i need a left front wheel hub assembly with semsor to be changed
my question: How often does this parts has to be changed and what are the possibilities of it getting damaged?
08 hummer h3 167000 km
no offroad
im just asking before i agree with the guy to fix my truck that will cost me almost a thousand bucks for the fix

First question, Why do you need the new hub?
ABS light? Worn?
If it's for an ABS light, it is most likely due, to a cut sensor wire, easy cheap repair.
If it is worn then you need the hub.
