The wifey, daughter and I were about an hour into a six plus hour drive from the beach. The hummer seemed to steer really easy. All of the sudden it violently braked by itself to 10mph from 70. I limped it off the road checked everything. No codes no lights... Well I reluctantly decided to continue. About 20 minutes later same thing but with an ABS Fault. Again, I am in the middle of nowhere and no cell service so I continue. I made it about two hours before the hub assembly started dragging and the front drivers side brake dissenting rated. I found a spot to,pull over. 3.5 hours later the rollback arrived and fa ily members too to pick us up. A $450 tow and $500 from hub assembly replacement got her going again.

Is this common? It gave no warning except for the light steering when we left.

 

that is what happened when my front wheel bearings went out, but you have to replace the whole hub assembly. I also had a grinding noise a while after the incident
