Finally did it !!!!! Took about an hour (kept looking for white tube on drivers side, it's black....) pulled the firewall plugs and cut out the "X". Drains run great and hopefully this issue is resolved. Also flushed lines with degreaser to get the crud out.....

update:
yes this fix worked. A few days afterwards it rained, wait, DUMPED like 2" in an hour or two...... It was bad.... BUT my H3 was bone dry on the inside....
I wanted to test it out, but this was a true test......phewwww

(cant say the same for the clowns who were driving through standing water in their cars and flooded them.....then called "911" so we could go pull them out)

but once you get the grommets out of the firewall take a screwdriver or some tool and "punch out" the membrane that is over the end of the grommet.... the easiest way to get the passenger side off is to also take off the vent (it pops off) and look toward the firewall, follow the large white tube to the grommet and just pull it out...

just a heads up to keep an eye on the factory roof rack channel bolts as well. noticed a bit of a leak coming from mine. unscrewed all the bolts and sealed them up with silicone on the threads. seems to have worked. there was a bit of rust on all the threads so water may have been an issue with all of them at some point.

 

I did the same thing as a precautionary measurement
