Default Hood handle removal

Black out project taken to next level. I was able to remove the hood vent, but chrome handles were beyond my understanding. Anybody any idea how to remove the handles from the vent???

What kind of vent and handles do you have? Is it OEM or after market? The way I remove my handles is to open the hood and just take the nuts off from the other side. If they've never been removed before, they may also have a little lock washer type thing pinched on. If they are after market, it's possible they are attached differently or directly to the vent.

They are all OEM and look like that. I don't know if it is rust or the washer but after I removed the bolts the handles are still stuck to the vent and won't move at all.

Do you have to screw the washer out or what?

You have to break these off, I don't know exactly what it's called, it's like a little washer that is pinched around the bolt thread to keep it from moving

Thanks! Will try to remove them. They seemed to be pretty rusty, but let's see if I end up looking for a new vent

Slowly peel them up with a flathead screwdriver, they shouldn't be too hard to take off
