hey, i have a 2008 hummer h3 3.7L 5cl 5 speed manual
when i go to put it in reverse from neutral its like the gates stay closed and wont let me in the gear. happens with first gear too sometimes and if im cruising along going from 3rd to 4th with about 3000rpm. happens alot when its cold, few pumps of the clutch then it works.

has anyone else had anyproblems like this? its kinda hard to explain but that was by best shot.

nothing outside the tranny case that can be seen so its inside or the clutch ,clutch linkage ??

might have been treated badly early in life huh?

 

I have the same 5sp and I believe the synchronizer are sticking, slightly.
On cold days first can be hard to select, without a double clutch, on occasion, not every time.
My third gear has also been a problem, but only when the trans is cold.
As far as reverse, I always choose a synchronized gear first before going into reverse.
This helps line up the reverse gears for easier selection.

I have had my transmission gear oil changed twice in 50,000 miles and I believe that helps.
Don't forget that this manual takes a special fluid.
