Default Nav/cd

I am new to the Hummer line. We just bought a 2005 H2. There are so many bells and whistles. Our first question is, does the NAV system have to have the map disk inserted to navigate? If so, how can you listen to a CD while the disk is in the system? We bought it from a private car lot and the dealer was quite clueless about the H2, other than the price.

The nav disc has to be in to work the navigation and if it is then you can not play a CD. It's a bummer but that is why I pay for XM I rarely play CD's anymore. If your disc is the original you probably need to update it at GMNAVDISC.COM

You should still be able to listen to your XM or AM/FM radio while using the screen as your nav unit.

Thanks guys. Ran into a guy yesterday who confirmed what you said. He owns same year h2 as I have. He confirmed what you said. Seems odd that the cd and nav were integrated like that. The person I talked to is a realtor and said even when his nav discs were new, they weren't ever as accurate as his smart phone so, for navagation, he uses his phone.
Seems like they could have some feature on the nav system to update via internet rather than a disk. That's the way my Garmins work. Though, again, they aren't as accurate as my phone, even after I to an update just prior to driving somewhere.

As far as listening to cd's... I guess I am old school and still listen to them.

Thanks again for your help.

When I said we just bought the vehicle, I meant, we just bought it like 3 days ago.
Lol... we just found that adapter last night. And to answer your question; Yes, that will come in handy.

I've been using USAS**c adapter last 2,3 years and totally unhappy. Since it draws current when key off. Make my battery dead overnight more than a few times. Contact that company and suggestion was to cut one wire in the harness!!! They knew product may be defective. just FYI.
