Cold air intake install questions
[QUOTE=LoJac963;328856]
No air intake is going to give any measurable gains in HP, torque, acceleration, anything without supporting mods such as an exhaust (headers such as LT's and a free flowing exhaust) and tune. I am not sure what all the hype is about intake sound but my Volant/AirDoc setup definitely throws sound out as well.
It all depends what you want. If you want a high quality setup for a $60-70k vehicle then go with a name brand which doesn't suck hot air. My truck is my baby so it only gets the best. If you want to save some money and don't mind sucking in all the hot engine air and probably ripping up your hood insulator then go with a cheaper setup that is open and seals to the hood insulator.
To each his own, we've argued the points enough in this thread.
I run a Volant pre-filter as well so absolutely nothing gets through my setup which is vital in the dry and dusty AZ air.
Buddy, do us all a favor, don't contribute any help to this site..
You obviously know ZERO about how a vehicle runs..
To say that no air intake will increased performance to an engine to beyond ignorant. .
ANYTHING, you do, be it cai, exhaust, timing, porting, cam, even down to the oil, will increase performance. .
It is amazing what little people know on this site, and they still offer help..don't, you are only giving out inaccurate info..
I suggest you take one of those community college course in mechanics..

lol I have tried to be respectful to you but you consistently throw digs at people.
WITHOUT supporting mods an intake will not do much, the computer will compensate for the increased air flow, air temp, etc in regards to timing and various other aspects.
You have the mindset that changing one part will vastly improve performance and you could not be further from the truth. Per your example, "be it cai, exhaust, timing, porting, cam, even down to the oil, will increase performance." Most definitely these changes will increase performance but when you start talking about tearing an engine apart as in porting heads or cam you enter a whole different ball game. IF you did all those mods including a tune you'd have a completely different engine.
We are talking about the inferior open intake compared to a closed system. If sucking hot air wasn't a big deal then why does EVERY vehicle manufacturer in the world use a closed system? Do you honestly believe they would waste money on research and development of intake systems if they could simply throw a plastic tube with an open air filter in the engine compartment?
Lets get real, you have your opinion and many others have theirs. Neither is incorrect but the information you give is completely incorrect, you even said your intake will suck hot air. That is detrimental to performance.
This is no different than the mall crawler members who put every piece of ebay chrome on their rigs and thing it looks good when the rest of us think it looks terrible. It is their rig and they are free to do what they want to it. If they think it looks good then that is all that matters. If you honestly believe your intake is better than anything else on the market then run with it. No harm no foul.
I am an active member on all the major HUMMER forums. I have met with members and helped them work on their rigs. I do all my own work and this is not the first 6.0 I have owned. If you really want to learn how important air intake temperature, MAF sensors, and everything else related to an intake is then hit some of the GTO forums where we used to talk in depth about replacing MAF sensors, IAT sensors, you name it.
As far as this thread goes, I am done. The information has been posted earlier in comparing the different types of intakes. If anyone has questions about my setup feel free to PM me but I will not be replying here.

Long post, but nothing of interest..
I never said a cai, will vastly improve performance, YOU said, there will be no performance gain..
So you supposedly own other 6.0, means nothing, you think you would a
of learned a thing or two, obviously not..
Again, look into some form of training in reference to how a engine works..
And i don't throw digs, i just try to put dumbass people straight, i hope i helped you..lol

Well Mr. Know it all, being an abrasive name calling jerk has earned you a vacation. Enjoy your time off. If you wish to return you will have to rethink your banter from hiding behind your keyboard and consider conversations here like you would face to face. My test is this, if you would not be man enough to say to my face what you post, time to go buddy boy. I can assure you, you would not, because I would not allow you to finish your sentence with some of this crap you have been spewing. Grow up and learn some manners.
I am certain you would be saying almost none of your offensive drool if talking to these members personally. Disrespect is not acceptable.
