Broke down...make me feel better
dmb Glad to hear it wasn't the head valves... way to step up Sewell.... Hang in there, you didn't overreact you were just highly ticked off that this new vehicle left you stranded... totally understandable in my book.... glad it's working out for you...

a little update: my dad went by the el paso dealer today (as i'm back in dallas) to check on my baby 3. they took him into the garagewhere the mechanic working onmy rideshowed him everything including the infamous bolt. apparently, they ripped the guts out of my engine (all 5 cylinders) and checked everything out. there was a small rub mark/scratch from the lodged bolt on the cylinder housing, but no damage (per the mechanic and my dad's observation). they said that the bolt was there from day 1 rubbing against the cylinder, but finally got lodged in the valvethe day all hell broke loose. as of now, they're just waiting to put it all back togetheroncethey receive the newhead gasket from detroit. again, they reaffirmed the idea that this was just a freak accident and they still can't determine where the bolt came from. guess im just unlucky. also, sounds like i'm getting an overhaul at 5K miles. so, the new ETA is this friday when my dad will get it (and saturday when i get it)...im expecting sometime next week
. well, that's the latest.
thanks again for the calming words

Dude, you are like William Shatner in that old Twilight Zone episode: "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet"
You have a gremlin on your wing. (Or the Hummer equivalent)

By the way, did you notice a new "looseness" in your front end after the Glen Rose outing?
I canfeel every little sway in the road and now get a bit of wanderingthat I didn't have before.
Got to go have some regular maintenance done next week, I'll have them check it then.
(damn rocks.......)

Sounds like you've got a great set of parents! Yes a nice thank you would def be in order for them! As for rambling on..heck I have done that here many times and these folks have been great and patient (or perhaps they just don't bother reading my posts anymore LOL!) This is a forum..this is what we are here for - among many other GOOD & positive reasons. I would have never known about the head issue being a problem <in 06's> had I notended uphere. Meanwhile I have stayed here becauseonce I got here I foundsome great folks, much knowledge to be gained (shoot theyeven lured me over to the dark side <bling>
) and also quite a few grins n giggles I"ve had as well!
So keep us posted....

FINAL UPDATE (i hope) -well, 2 1/2 weeks after my baby 3 broke down, i finally gotblue back. the short version: once they replaced the parts and got the engine back together, the check engine light came back on due to the engine timing being off (doesn't make sense to me since there are no timing belts..or so i thought). anyways, that delayedcompletion by 2 days, which pushed back my dad's road trip to this past weekend.
everything seems/sounds/appear to be great. nothing better to test the repairs and break in an engine like like a 650 mile trip
.first thing i did when the keys were back in my hands was take it in to get a detailed wash. i had to wash the bad mojo off
. second thing i did was add the new OEM roof racks i bought (yes, while my vehicle was in the shop). in the end, it was a massive pain in the ****, but hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from here. i'll post some updated pics from my trip to the desert as well as my recent additions once iget my dang home internet up and running (recently moved).
dumb lilanecdote: when my dad pulled up in my 3, i swear i got chills all over and re-realized why i bought/love it SO dang much.
thanks again guys for the support and reassurance. these vehicles are simply badass.
